Our Mission
Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans (VARN) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. VARN believes that all people should have access to the civil justice system. VARN’s mission is to provide free and/or reduced fee civil legal representation to persons of limited means and domestic violence survivors and to encourage and facilitate the provision of volunteer services by attorneys and others.
VARN Programs
Domestic Violence Victim’s Assistance Project (DVVAP)
Provides free civil legal services for domestic violence survivors, regardless of income. DVVAP serves domestic violence survivors in rural communities throughout northern and central Nevada.

Pro Bono Services
VARN provides free (pro bono) civil legal services to individuals and families with certain types of civil (non criminal) cases who are low income and live in rural northern or central Nevada.

Self-Help Forms Clinics
VARN provides free Self-Help Divorce Form Clinics for people who would like to file for divorce without an attorney, by using divorce forms. Divorce forms can be obtained at the Nevada Supreme Court Law Library website. Clinics are held the 4th Thursday of the month at 12 noon at the Carson City Public Library on Roop Street. Advance registration required, please call VARN at 775-883-8278 or toll free 1-866-448-8276 to register.
Lawyer in the Lobby
VARN’s Lawyer in the Lobby project began In January 2010. The Lawyer in the Lobby will allow you to speak to an attorney for a limited time, at no cost,concerning your legal problem. The Lawyer in the Lobby is held twice each month Please call VARN at 775-883-8278 for an appointment or more information.
